If you are like many husbands and wives out there you have no clue what the traditonal anniversary gifts are supposed to be for each of your wedding anniversaries.  Depending on how long you have been married there is a specific type of gif you are supposed to buy your wife or husband.  Below is a list of what are considered to be the traditional anniversary gifts.  For many this traditional anniversary gift list is outdated and has been replaced with a more modern version which I will discuss in my next post.

1st Paper   -  No I dont think a pinata would make a good first anniversary gift
2nd Cotton - Qtips dont cut the mustard here
3rd Leather - Leather whips for anniversaries might sound fun but could be dangerous
4th Linen - A napkin doesn’t count
5th Wood - Hmm a good solid spanking with a wooden paddle might be just right for some marriages
6th Iron    - Chain and Ball anyone?
7th Wool -  A dont think a live sheep would be an appropriate choice here
8th Bronze - A bronze statue of the inlaws wouldn’t be suggested
9th Pottery -  Better stick with a nice antique weller vase  for your 9th wedding anniversary
10th Tin -  I dont have a clue what type of tin item you could buy for your 10th anniversary

For those of you that make it past your 10th wedding anniversary I’ll let you come up with some good gift ideas on your own.

12th Silk
13th Lace
14th Ivory
15th Crystal

Making it past your 15 wedding anniversary is a great accomplishment and for each additonal year you should make sure and do something extra special.  Of course the longer your married the more elaborate and expensive the anniversary gifts should be.
20th China - I had no clue I was supposed to buy my wife china for out 20th wedding anniversary.  I really botched that one
25th Silver
30th Pearl
35th Coral
40th Ruby
45th Sapphire
50th Gold
55th Emerald
60th Diamond -  Your kidding people really stay married this long?
